Elissaveta Iordanova has professional recognition as a dancer, teacher and choreographer from her native country Bulgaria as well as USA, Austria, Romania and others. She holds an MFA in dance from Sarah Lawrence College, NY, an MA in theater from National Academy for Theater and Film Arts-Sofia, Bulgaria and an Associate Degree in Bulgarian ethnic dance. Mrs. Iordanova is a Fulbright scholar and recipient of the National Center for Music and Dance-Bulgaria Award. She was under the faculty of the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, National School for Dance Arts, Academy for Music and Dance Arts, National Academy for Theater and Film Arts, American College in Sofia, Bulgaria. Elissaveta is a founder of New Stage Alliance, a not for profit organization and ELEA Dance in Sofia. She is the initiator of the First International Improvisational Festival REFLEKT in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her choreography has been presented at many venues in Bulgaria, Austria, Romania and New York City.
Bulgarian dances, many of them group chain dances, are characterized by their lively energy, uneven rhythms and exciting footwork.
